Whitewood Mayor Wins Recall Election
WHITEWOOD, SD - Deb Schmidt has avoided being recalled as the Mayor of Whitewood. Schmidt defeated Ken Noren 59 percent to 41 percent in Tuesday's election.

There was a 53 percent voter turnout.

In the past, opponents have accused Deb Schmidt of misconduct and failing to perform her duties.  Schmidt says her actions were backed by the City Council and City Attorney.

She has been the mayor of the small South Dakota town for more than a year.
