CANTON, SD -
Authorities have made an arrest in connection with a suspicious death that happened in Hudson back in December.
Lincoln County State's Attorney Tom Wollman says that 31-year-old Terrance James Gardner of Henry was arrested Tuesday night in Cherokee, Iowa, on alternate counts of first and second degree manslaughter for the death 46-year-old Asaf Sorum.
Sorum was injured in his home back in December and later died in a Sioux City hospital.
Gardner was indicted on the manslaughter charges last week. He was also indicted for interfering with emergency communication by threatening someone who was calling for help that day.
Court filings also show that Gardner is a habitual criminal. Back in October 2000, he was sentenced for escaping from the jail in Lincoln County. In 2002, he was back behind bars for being a felon and transporting a gun in Lyon County, Iowa, and then in June of 2002, he was sentenced in Huron for possessing more than two ounces of marijuana.
Gardner is scheduled to be transported back to Lincoln County Wednesday afternoon.
