Soldiers, Inmates Help Fill Sandbags In Yankton
YANKTON, SD - The South Dakota National Guard and Federal Bureau of Prisons will help people in Yankton fill sandbags to protect property.

100 Guard soldiers are now filling sandbags at the County Highway Shop. They are taking over for volunteers who have been working since Sunday.

Inmates from the Yankton Federal Prison Camp will also help fill sandbags that will be available on Thursday. Property owners who need the sandbags can pick them up on 12th Street, along the north side of the Prison Camp.

Anyone who wants to volunteer should contact the Yankton Area Chamber of Commerce's volunteer pool coordinator at 660-2033 or 660-8899. You can also visit a website set up by the Yankton County Office of Emergency Management.
