Corps To Increase Water Flow Saturday From Oahe Dam
PIERRE, SD - The Corps will increase water flow Saturday morning from the Oahe Dam.  The Corps says the flow is around 70,000 cubic feet per second (CFS) but that will be increased to 85,000 CFS Saturday morning.  Water levels are expected to remain steady until Saturday when the water is released.

Flows will increase later as follows:
  • 90,000 CFS on Saturday, June 4
  • 90,000 CFS on Sunday, June 5
  • 100,000 CFS on Monday, June 6
Right now, the Missouri River at Pierre and Fort Pierre is 1,430 feet above sea level. Once water is released it could increase by as much as four feet.

Late June and early July, the water flow may reach 110,000 CFS and could reach 120,000 CFS.

The state has released maps of areas that could expect flooding in Pierre and Fort Pierre.
