Guard Holds Service For Soldier Believed Drowned

RAPID CITY, SD -
The South Dakota National Guard has held a memorial service for a soldier who died just days before deploying for duty in Afghanistan.
The Tuesday ceremony for 19-year-old Jared Roe of Rapid City was held at Camp Rapid.
Authorities believe Roe drowned after diving from a boat on Angostura Reservoir in Fall County early Monday. They are still investigating.
Roe was a member of the 200th Engineer Company, which leaves the state Monday.

Authorities said a 16-year-old student fired a gun at the school Wednesday morning. Law enforcement said the injury was a flesh wound.

Authorities did not identify the victim, but described him as a 16 year old from Minnehaha County.

The teenager found dead on Interstate 90 has been identified as an O'Gorman High School student.
