Storm Center Update-Wednesday AM
April 20, 2011, 6:34 AM
SIOUX FALLS, SD -
Rain and snow continues across northeastern KELOLAND with snow covered roads. We’ve had reports of 6+ inches north of Pierre toward Timber Lake, so temperatures in those areas today will be held down due to the snow.
Otherwise, the rain and snow in eastern KELOLAND early this morning will continue to push east and clearing skies will take place starting in the west and moving east as the day continues. Even with the sunshine, highs will stay in the 40s in most areas with a northwest wind at 5-15mph.
Another system will start developing to our south tonight with a chance of overnight rain and snow in Rapid City. That rain will spread east tomorrow with showers likely in eastern KELOLAND. Highs will be in the 40s in the east, with readings closer to 50 in the west. Winds will be stronger from the southeast at 15-30mph, with higher gusts during the afternoon.
Rain will continue on Friday with amounts of over .50” in the northern part of KELOLAND. We’ll carefully monitor that trend the next couple of days.
The weekend still looks warmer with highs in the 50s, with some places closer to 60 by Easter Sunday. Another storm will take aim at the plains early next week, but the exact track is still uncertain.
