Students Dance With CMN To Raise Money

April 2, 2011, 6:15 PM by David Brown

Students Dance With CMN To Raise Money
SIOUX FALLS, SD - For the first time since 2005, Augustana students danced to raise money for children who need medical services. The Augustana Dance Marathon returned to campus Saturday afternoon. Organizers say it was time to bring the dancing back.

“We really want to support that there," Nyberg said. "Our campus is only a mile away from the hospital. So, we feel it's really important to spread the word around Augie and get Augie involved at Sanford Children's.”

The marathon runs until 11 p.m. Saturday. They won't have final fundraising totals for a while, but they're estimating about $10,000 for sick kids.

That money from Augie's event goes on top of more than $300,000 raised at area events in just more than a week.

The University of South Dakota held its 14th annual dance marathon last weekend and brought in more than $51,000. South Dakota State University raised almost $35,000 for the cause. Both the university are still seeing donations roll in.

During a radio fundraiser for three days last week, people donated $231,965 to the CMN’s Cure Kids Cancer.

You can donate to the Children’s Miracle Network any time. Just follow this link to the local website
