SIOUX FALLS, SD -
A 28-year-old man is facing serious charges Wednesday morning after leading police on a high-speed chase in Minnehaha County overnight.
Police were looking into reports of suspicious people going through cars in a parking lot when they spotted a car leaving without its headlights on. Police say Ronnie Young of Hurley/Lennox wouldn't pull over for officers when they tried to stop him just after 1:30 a.m. He led police on a chase through Sioux Falls starting at North Hovland Avenue and West Russell.
Police say the chase was called off because of the dangerously high speeds. However, officers followed tracks in the snow and found Young's black Mitsubishi Eclipse crashed into a snow bank near Hiebert's Greenhouse in Minnehaha County.
Police say Young ran away and stole a delivery truck. He was arrested before he could get away.
Young was arrested for his second DWI, aggravated eluding, reckless driving, open container, third-degree burglary and grand theft as well as warrants out for his arrest.
