SIOUX FALLS, SD -
There's a celebration underway for South Dakota Republicans whose gubernatorial candidate won the election on Tuesday.
Senator John Thune introduced Dennis Daugaard as the state's next governor to a crowd of supporters at the Sioux Falls Ramkota.
Once on stage, Daugaard thanked the voters of South Dakota for electing him to be governor and asked for a round of applause for his Democratic opponent, Scott Heidepriem.
Daugaard says he's ready to jump start the state's economy and create jobs. He plans to join with legislative leaders to balance the budget without raising taxes. He called on legislators who are elected to be ready to make hard, tough choices during the upcoming session.
Daugaard pledged to work everyday to make South Dakota better.
