SIOUX FALLS, SD -
If shopping is your sport, the Internet has opened up a whole new playing field. Online outlet sites can be a shopper's dream come true.
There was a time when you'd drive to an outlet mall to find the best deals, but today you can just take a ride on the information super highway.
"I honestly don't like shopping. For me to go online and get what I need is much easier; a better experience than going to the mall dragging kids, fighting crowds. It's easier to go online," shopper Sarah Sorrell said.
Sorrell uses sites like fatwallet.com, which gives a rundown of current retail specials and coupon codes to find everything for electronics to clothing.
"I only would use a site that I'm familiar with. I'd be hesitant to use a website I didn't know something about or someone who trusted the website, I probably wouldn't use it," Sorrell said.
Sorrell found one outlet website on outdoor merchandise that she's used for several years called steepandcheep.com where she's snagged plenty of deals.
"I've gotten sunglasses, clothing. I got my husband a lantern for Father's Day. They have lot of backpacking, outdoor gear and shoes," Sorrell said.
This site lists one item at a time and when it's gone, it's gone. But when the deal is something she can use, Sorrell figures she saves at least half off full retail price.
"It's nice to have name brands without paying full price," Sorrell said.
