Lyon Co. Casino To Be Called 'Grand Falls'

July 28, 2010, 1:43 PM by Ben Dunsmoor

Lyon Co. Casino To Be Called 'Grand Falls'
LARCHWOOD, IA - Officials with Kehl Management tell KELOLAND News they have picked a name for the new Lyon County Casino. The casino will be called Grand Falls Casino Resort.

“We felt that the Grand Falls name better represents our resort and the region.” Dan Kehl, CEO of Grand Falls Casino Resort said in a press release sent out Wednesday afternoon.

“This project has economic benefit for the entire Tri-State Region. The economic benefits do not stop at state lines.” Kehl said in the release.

“In fact, over $7.5 Million of contracts for Sioux Falls and South Dakota businesses are on the agenda for approval by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission tomorrow. Pending approval of the Gaming Commission over $14 Million of the $50 Million in construction cost will be let to South Dakota and Minnesota businesses. We will employ over 700 people from the tri-state region and we are looking forward to working with all of the area businesses to promote the Falls region.”

Developers say construction on the casino is progressing well and the footings for the building are already poured. A website with a webcam has been set up at the site to track the progress.
