Library To Be 'Cool' Again
July 31, 2008, 7:08 AM
Weeks of summer heat without air-conditioning in the Pierre public library are coming to a close.
Repair parts for the building's cooling system arrived Wednesday, and officials say the air-conditioning could be back on by week's end.
Librarian Beverly Lewis says the staff is "ecstatic" that the problem is almost solved.
Doors were propped open and fans were used to provide some relief from the heat, and the library's 19 computers were turned off during the warmest part of the day in an effort to keep the building from getting even hotter.
