A Sioux Falls boy is in critical condition after a biking accident. Investigators say the 10-year-old was riding on First Avenue Sunday afternoon, when he ran a stop sign and was hit by a pick-up. He was taken to Avera McKennan Hospital with a cut to the head, a possible broken leg and internal injuries.
Police say the accident is a reminder that bicyclists need to wear helmets, follow the same traffic laws as cars and pay attention to their surroundings. Lt. Jerome Miller says, "Because even if they are right, they're not going to win a collision with an automobile or truck."
It took police almost six hours to locate the boy's parents and identify him.
