Myrtle Fire 15 Percent Contained

The Myrtle fire, burning one mile east of Pringle, is 15 percent contained.

The fire has burned a total of 7,500 acres and on Friday Custer County officials issued evacuations to 242 residents in the Argyle Road area. No homes have been lost in the fire.

A Type 1 team has arrived on scene and will transition with the Type 3 team on Saturday.

On Thursday the American Red Cross opened a shelter at the Custer Middle School to help anyone affected by the wildfire and on Friday a second shelter was opened at the Mueller Center in Hot Springs.

Highway 385 remains closed from Pringle to Wind Cave National Park. Several other roads in the area have also been closed.
