Sunday Boredom Busters

SIOUX FALLS, SD -

     Enjoy an evening of Shakespeare in the Park at Falls Park.
     The Bare Bodkins Performance Company presents The Tempest at 7 pm at the Queen Bee Mill through July 12th.
     Tickets are free and will be handed out beginning at 6 pm.
     Seating on metal bleachers is limited.

     After the performance, stick around for the Falls Park Sound and Light Show.
     The free digital sound and laser light show highlighting the history of Sioux Falls begins a half-hour past sunset.

     The town of Monroe, South Dakota is celebrating its 125th Birthday.
     Activities include at Community Worship at the First Reformed Church lawn at 10:30 am; a Craft Fair/Flea Market on Main Street at 11:30 am; a Community Picnic at noon; a Tractor Drive and Ethanol Plant Tour at 2:30 pm and an After Glow Party at 5:30 pm.

     The Sioux Falls Municipal Band performs two free concerts.
     The first is at 3 pm at McKennan Park.
     That's followed by an 8 pm performance at Terrace Park.

     Bring a picnic lunch to Strawbale Winery near Renner for Sangria Sunday.
     You can listen to live music and enjoy summer wines from 1-4 pm.
     The cost is $5 a carload.  

     Help create afghans for families in need during Warm Up Sioux Falls.
     It goes from 1-4 pm at Athena Fibers.
     Volunteers use leftover yarn to knit and crochet the afghans.
     Athena Fibers is located at 3915 S. Hawthorne in Sioux Falls.

     Nebraska alt-rockers 311 headline Summer Slam at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds.
     The music starts at 6 pm.
     Tickets are $40.

     Show your support for past and present members of the armed forces during the Monumental Hour of Prayer at the Mount Rushmore National Memorial Amphitheater.
     The hour-long event begins at 6:30 pm and features retired Army Colonel Tom Greco as the special speaker.

     The Noel Coward comedy Blithe Spirit will be performed at the new Laboratory Theatre in Panburn Hall on the campus of Black Hills State University in Spearfish.
     The performance is at 2:30 pm.
     General admission tickets are $14, $12 for seniors, $9 for students and $6 for ages 17 and under.

     Abiding Savior Free Lutheran Church presents the musical Love Comes Softly at 2:30 pm.
     Tickets are $12 for adults, $5 for kids.
     Abiding Savior is located at 4100 South Bahnson in Sioux Falls.

     Springdale Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls is hosting an Ice Cream Social from 4-6:30 pm.
     The menu also includes chicken sandwiches, potato salad, baked beans and pie.
     The church is located on 480th Avenue, 2 and a-half miles north of Lake Alvin.

     The Hartford Farmer's Market opens for the season at the Hartford Building Center at 1001 North Oaks Avenue.
     The Farmers Market runs from 11 am to 2 pm every Sunday through October 28th, weather permitting.


     The Grand Falls Casino in Larchwood, Iowa is also hosting a Farmer's Market.
     It goes from 10 am to 1 pm in the casino parking lot every Sunday through August.


     Classic cars of all makes and models are on display in downtown Rapid City.
     The Cruiser Car Show & Street Fair goes from 10 am to 4 pm and includes live music, kiddie train rides, awards to the top car picks, and even get your picture taken with Elvis.
