Palisades State Park turned 40 on Sunday.
To celebrate, workers threw the park a birthday party and everybody was invited to join in on the fun.
The celebration kicked off with hike through the park where one of the workers talked about the history of the park and it ended some with birthday cake.
Here are some facts about Palisades State Park:
• The word Palisades means wall of protection.
• Some of the rocks you’ll see there are over 2.6 billion years old and they are pink colored because of the amounts of iron that’s in the rocks.
• The bridge built over Split Rock Creek is 104 years old.
• Palisades officially became a state park in 1972.
