Less than 24 hours before their 1st round playoff matchup with Lehigh Valley, Sioux Falls Storm Head Coach Kurtiss Riggs has been suspended 2 games on charges of over-compensating a player.
Storm Owner Todd Tryon confirmed Riggs suspension to KELOLAND Sports. The issue revolves around a van used by the team to shuttle players to and from charity events.
The team claims the van was provided by a 3rd party. Originally Riggs' suspension was for 3 games and the team was issued a $5,000 fine, but one game was deducted and half of the fine pending no further issues.
Tryon said this is another attempt by the league to "Drag Sioux Falls down to their level."
He also says the league purposely delayed the decision so it would take affect in the playoffs.
The Storm will take on Lehigh Valley in the 1st Round of the IFL Playoffs Saturday at 7:05.
