The warm weather is welcome news to fishing fans. This weekend, Scheels in Sioux Falls is hoping to reel in a crowd with its 2nd annual "Fish Fest."
David Brown: What's your favorite fish?
Rocco Jensen: Northern Pike.
David Brown: Why is that your favorite?
Rocco Jensen: Because I like it.
As three-year-old Rocco Jensen can attest, you don't need a rhyme or reason to attend this weekend's Fish Fest in Sioux Falls.
"It's for everybody," Scheels fishing manager Travis Vacek said. "It's for kids, it's for adults. It's for the guy who goes out fishing two weekends or for the fisherman who's out every weekend. There's deals and things here for everyone."
"It just gets people interested and obviously, fishing is one of our big things," Scheels events coordinator Jennifer Christensen said.
After some bad weather at last year's Fish Fest, the outlook for this year isn't quite as murky.
"It's kind of nice, even for myself who fishes quite a bit, to talk to some of these guys," Vacek said. "You get a different perspective, different ways to fish. They have ideas and different suggestions for you to try and do. It's things like that that make everybody better at fishing."
And for Rocco, who likes to go fishing with his dad, he's already learning the lessons of the lake.
Brown: Do you like the big ones or the small ones?
Rocco: I like the small ones because the big ones are naughty.
But with warm weather on the horizon, this year's Fish Fest, by comparison, should be nice.
The Fish Fest continues at Scheels in Sioux Falls through Sunday.
