The Great Plains Zoo is celebrating the second birthday of Kiano, an Eastern Black Rhino calf.
The 1:30 p.m. party on Saturday feature a zookeeper chat and treats as visitors watch Kiano devour his own special "cake."
Kiano was born weighing almost 93 pounds as one of four Eastern Black Rhino calves born in 2010. He now tips the scales at around 900 pounds.
The Great Plains Zoo has three of the fewer than 65 Eastern Black Rhinos in captivity in Association of Zoos and Aquariums accredited facilities.
Zoo President and CEO Elizabeth Whealy says there are fewer than 4,000 Black Rhinos surviving in the wild.
