Officials who successfully lured an international youth archery competition to Yankton say they put two years into the effort.
World Archery's executive board announced this week that the Easton Yankton Archery Center will host the 2015 World Youth Championships. Yankton beat out several other locations including Mexico City.
The tournament is expected to draw about 600 competitors from 60 countries. Yankton Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Carmen Schramm says the tournament "puts Yankton on a whole other level."
Event manager Nancy Wenande says she expects the tournament to benefit the entire state, with participants visiting tourism attractions around South Dakota.
