Yankton Names First Female City Manager

The city manager in Canton has been named to the same position in Yankton.

Thirty-five-year-old Amy Nelson has been city manager in Canton the past four years. She becomes Yankton's first female city manager, replacing Doug Russell, who left in mid-June.

Nelson is a native of Ortonville, Minn. She has a master's degree from Minnesota State University-Mankato and worked in a couple of states in positions including downtown development director and senior community planner before becoming city manager in Canton.
