Yankton Man Dead After Fishing Accident

YANKTON, SD -
A Yankton man is dead after a runaway pickup truck struck him while he was fishing on a river bank near Gavins Point Dam.
Authorities say around 1:15 this afternoon, an unoccupied Ford Pickup parked along Training Dike Road rolled down an embankment toward the Missouri River.
Sixty-five-year-old Edward Metter was fishing on the bank when he was struck by the pickup as it rolled into the river. Metter was transported to a local hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.
Yankton Search and Rescue recovered the truck. Authorities are still investigating.
