While some South Dakota cities have been battered by snowstorms this winter, Yankton in the southeastern corner of the state has had a much milder season.
Public Services Director Kevin Kuhl says the city has undertaken a complete plowing of its streets only twice this winter. And Yankton County Highway Superintendent Brian Gustad says county plowing crews have been out in rural areas only a handful of times.
City Finance Officer Al Viereck says Yankton has spent little of the $202,000 it budgeted for snow removal this year.
