Woonsocket Woman Still Missing As Leads Dry Up

Woonsocket Woman Still Missing As Leads Dry Up
Rachel Cyriacks

WOONSOCKET, SD -

The search for a missing woman from the Woonsocket area continues tonight. 30-year-old Rachel Cyriacks was last seen working at a temp job in Mitchell on November 11.

Tom Fridley took over as Sanborn County Sheriff in January 1991. In his three decades of watching over the county, he says he's never been a part of a search like this.

"We've have some people that went missing but usually we found them within 24 hours," Sanborn County Sheriff Tom Fridley said.

The town of Woonsocket is not used to dealing with cases like missing woman Rachel Cyriacks. Anita Fouberg's daughter went to school with Cyriacks, and she is surprised with how people in the community are handling the situation.

"I haven't gotten the feel from anyone because it hasn't really been talked about you know, other than what's been read in the paper and seen on the news up to this point," Fouberg said.

The Sanborn Sanborn County Sheriff noticed the same trend, but he would like to hear more discussion to help with the investigation.

"There's not as much as I think there should be, but I don't normally have a lot of missing people, so this is a new adventure to try and round up information," Fridley said.

Fouberg believes that the fact that Cyriacks traveled out of town a lot might have been why it's been so difficult to find her.

"She didn't work locally in town, so I mean she wasn't a visual person in town very often. In fact, she was here off and on for several years that I'm aware," Fouberg said.

The 1995 Chevy pickup that Cyriacks was reported to be driving was found at the home that her ex-husband, Bradley Cyriacks, was staying at. Law enforcement looked into that lead, but it was unfounded.

"The Division of Criminal Investigation worked with that one. At this point we have no foul play that we're looking at or anything else," Fridley said.

The Sanborn County Sheriff's office urges anyone with any information, no matter how small, to call them at (605) 796-4511.
