A Woonsocket woman is dead after a motorcycle crash on Highway 38 near Mitchell.
22-year-old Jordan Dawn Hanson was riding as a passenger on a 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle. She was riding with 19-year-old Sean Millard Baas of Alexandria. Baas slowed down to make a right turn on to Riverside Road, but lost control and slid in front of a 2015 Kenworth semi-truck. Hanson was separated from the motorcycle and slid under the driver’s side front dual tires of the truck, sustaining fatal injuries.
Baas was also separated from the motorcycle and received serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Both Hanson and Baas were wearing helmets.
The driver of the semi-truck, 62-year-old David Lee Vanzee of Huron, was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.
No further information is available.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating.
