A Woodbury County supervisor has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of domestic abuse.
43-year-old David Tripp, of Sioux City, entered the plea Monday. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Feb. 3. The Iowa attorney general's office is prosecuting the case so Woodbury County prosecutors can avoid any conflict of interest.
Tripp was charged after an incident with his wife Dec. 14 at their Sioux City home where he reportedly fired a gun into the air. No one was injured.
Tripp was elected to the County Board in 2010. He has not attended the board's two meetings since his arrest.
Tripp has also been placed on administrative leave from his county job as a jailer.
