A 29-year-old Mission woman is scheduled to be sentenced in February after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the May asphyxiation of a child.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says Kristen Bear Heels asphyxiated the child under 7 by overlaying, which involves accidentally rolling over onto a child.
Bear Heels appeared in court this past week and was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal.
The charge carries a maximum sentence of 8 years.
