A 58-year-old woman has life-threatening injuries after she was hit by a car near Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Sioux Falls police say two women were crossing South Grange Avenue near 21st Street around 7:15 a.m. Monday. One got across safely; the other was hit by a passing car.
Police say the woman flew into the air and likely hit the front of the car. Authorities say that car did not stop.
Police say the car is a four door, 2001-2005 Honda Civic and silver or light blue in color. They also believe the car will have damage to the front end, off-center to the passenger's side and a shattered windshield.
Witnesses say the car was going above the speed limit, but police have not confirmed that. There are accident reconstruction investigators at the intersection trying to verify that.
