Witnesses Say Pursuit’s End Was Like Movie

Witnesses Say Pursuit’s End Was Like Movie
SIOUX FALLS, SD - The pursuit for a suspect made its was from Lincoln County into the city limits of Sioux Falls, where several witnesses watched as it came to a dramatic end.

It's not often a high speed pursuit comes into the city of Sioux Falls. Some people could hear the sirens, and had no idea what they were about to witness.

"All of the sudden, the Dodge over there come flying through the Crown (Casino) parking lot, the cop was just right behind him and smacked him on the side there, the pit maneuver," witness Carl Peterson said.

Witnesses then watched as the highway patrol and several other law enforcement agencies swarmed in and made an arrest. But the impact that brought the chase to an end is what they won't forget.

"Just hunks of metal, it was like transformers, just hunks of metal going against other hunks of metal, it was pretty cool," witness Tanner LaValliere said.

"Only in movies and on the news, it's probably one of those things you'll never see again," Peterson said.

While the witnesses say they this all began, they say they're glad it came to an end here before matters got worse.

"Really glad nobody got hurt, especially the area he just went through. I work around here and they do school buses and pickups there. I am glad they didn't hit anybody," LaValliere said.

Those are all things troopers keep in mind. Because in situations, like these, they do everything they can to ensure innocent witnesses walk away with only memories of an unusual traffic stop.

Besides the highway patrol car that was used to stop the suspected stolen truck, a second squad car was leaking fluids from the engine following the chase. It too was towed away.

Just an hour ago authorities have identified the man as 25-year-old John Robert Graham.
