One of the people standing nearby at the Falls saw everything unfold last night, and tried to help out.
Here's what he said happened:
"We were just hanging out, throwing rocks in the river. Then we started hearing people screaming. I came running," Arthur Eaglefeather said.
Eaglefeather was with one of the victims who jumped into the water at the Falls, when young Garrett fell in.
"Some lady tried helping him out and stuck her hand in, had another gentleman hold on to her foot. She ended up falling and a buddy of mine went in there," Eaglefeather said.
His friend is Lyle Eagletail. Eaglefeather says the missing man has been dating his sister for a few months now.
After seeing what was happening, Eaglefeather immediately ran over with others to help out.
"I went over right away, as fast as I could. And I started helping them pull. But for some odd reason we couldn't get a good grip of him. And they ended up letting go of him," said Eaglefeather.
Eaglefeather believes the two people who went in to save the boy, may have been the reason he came out alive.
"After that, about like 10-15 minutes later the little kid ended up coming arise. I don't see how he ended up scaling that six foot wall, but he did," said Eaglefeather.
"The way I see it, is that I do believe somebody ended up pushing the boy up the wall. So he could get out because he came out just fine," said Eaglefeather.
