As winds keep howling in KELOLAND, blizzard warnings keep getting issued.
January has not been kind to eastern KELOLAND, as strong winds and cold air have dominated much of the month.
In northeast KELOLAND, where it seems blizzards have become common, average wind speeds this month are above average. Aberdeen's average speed so far this month is just under 14 miles per hour, compared to the climate average of 11. The highest sustained wind has been 55 miles per hour, while the highest gust made it up to 69 miles per hour.
While winds have not been that strong in southeast KELOLAND. Sioux Falls is also above average for wind. The climate average wind speed in Sioux Falls is just under 11 miles per hour. This month we're averaging just under 13 miles per hour. The highest sustained wind has been 48 miles per hour while the highest gust was 63.
Most of the strong winds have come from powerful clippers that have moved in from the northwest, but we shouldn't see any more of those in the next week.
