Here in Sioux Falls the winds have died down considerably, but earlier it was a different story with a peak gust of 56 miles an hour just before nine this morning.
According to Safe Travel USA, all the roads currently in western, central, and southeastern South Dakota are normal. Highways in northeastern KELOLAND are dealing with snow and ice after the morning blizzard. Rich Couch was driving to Sioux Falls from Woonsocket to shop, and the trip that normally takes an hour and a half took two hours today.
“Closer we got to Sioux Falls the more the snow was blowing. Roads turned to ice probably around Hartford, little farther out. So we really shut her down then,” Couch said.
Couch said he made the decision to drive his truck today instead of his smaller car to deal with the poor driving conditions.
