A former candidate for U-S House in South Dakota
has a new job as state director for AARP.
Rick Weiland says he's excited to be part of the organization. He says AARP can contribute to public policy debate on issues such as health care, prescription drugs and Social Security
Weiland has worked as a regional director for the Federal Emergency Management Agency and was state director for Senator Tom Daschle.
He lost the Democratic nomination for US House to Stephanie Herseth of Aberdeen. She was defeated in the general election by Republican Governor Bill Janklow.
