Weekend Rivalry Gets Good Weather

November 16, 2012, 10:10 PM by Ben Cathey

Weekend Rivalry Gets Good Weather

With a nine year hiatus separating the Coyotes and Jacks on the turf, many are hoping for great football weather.

We'll have a very mild forecast by November standards and the afternoon kickoff should allow for a decent amount of sunshine.

One big change will be the winds. As our next low pressure system arrives on Saturday, winds from the south will ramp up by afternoon. The commute to Coughlin-Alumni Stadium will likely be rough on your gas mileage.

If you are heading outside for a morning tailgate, we'll start on the cool side. With early winds sustained at 15-20 miles per hour, wind chills will hover in the middle 20s.  Gusts will be near 30 mph at times before dusk.

Conventional wisdom says the Jackrabbits will run the football through the wind, even with no rain expected. SDSU's ground game could be favorable against the Coyote's porous run defense.

We should eventually top out more than 10 degrees above average. The normal high for Brookings this time of year is only 39.
