THIS IS A COPY OF AN EMAIL I SEND OUT TO JAY, BRIAN, AND BEN. JUST SOME THOUGHTS ON WHAT THE FORECAST MODELS ARE DOING. IT MAY OR MAY NOT REFLECT THE FINAL FORECAST. BE SURE TO VISIT OUR WEATHER PAGE FOR UPDATES. –SCOT MUNDT
Main forecast focus will be the system this weekend. All three models bring in the system for the second half of the weekend with the GFS extending it into Monday. You can see the qpf list below. As of now qpf numbers are at three-quarters to two-thirds an inch, mainly in southeast KELOLAND.
I added a slight chance in northeast SD Sunday and Monday, mainly as the system exists. Temperatures will have to be watched before and after the system. A quick surge of warm air shouldn’t be ruled out on Saturday, with much cooler air early next week. Depending on snow cover, we could have highs only in the teens with lows returning below zero. Until then, I have numbers mainly in the 20s for highs and single digits for lows.
