Weather Analysis 11-20-12

November 20, 2012, 4:42 PM by Scot Mundt

THIS IS A COPY OF AN EMAIL I SEND OUT TO JAY, BRIAN, AND BEN.  JUST SOME THOUGHTS ON WHAT THE FORECAST MODELS ARE DOING.  IT MAY OR MAY NOT REFLECT THE FINAL FORECAST.  BE SURE TO VISIT OUR WEATHER PAGE FOR UPDATES. –SCOT MUNDT

Record setting temps possible for tomorrow, then colder air arrives on Thanksgiving.  I have northwest winds on Thursday at 30-50 in RAP, 20-40 in PIR, 20-35 in ABR, and 20-30 in FSD.  I think highs will be hit early in the day, then remain steady or slowly fall during the afternoon.

Saturday will give us a reprieve from the cold (40s east/50s central and west), but another cold front moves through on Sunday.  EURO is trying to squeeze out snow on Monday, so I added a 20 pop in ABR and PIR for snow.  GFS has nothing, but the EURO QPF is at .32” for ABR and .20” for PIR.

Once this moves through, the cold air stays for the rest of the month on both the EURO and GFS.

Snow chances in the extended are up in the air.  This morning’s CAN looks like yesterday’s runs of the GFS and EURO when they HAD snow next Tuesday!  Now GFS is dry for Tuesday, but tries to bring something through next Friday.
