THIS IS A COPY OF AN EMAIL I SEND OUT TO JAY, BRIAN, AND BEN. JUST SOME THOUGHTS ON WHAT THE FORECAST MODELS ARE DOING. IT MAY OR MAY NOT REFLECT THE FINAL FORECAST. BE SURE TO VISIT OUR WEATHER PAGE FOR UPDATES. –SCOT MUNDT
Still not sold on any big warm-ups in eastern SD anytime soon.
Temps will remain in the single digits and teens in eastern SD through the work week. Some relief will try to move in this weekend with highs returning to average. We’ve turned the corner too, average temps are slowly starting to warm.
Watch the clipper on Thursday. Light snow will be possible in northern SD as it passes, but the cold air behind will be felt with lows falling below zero in eastern SD for Saturday morning (winds and clouds should keep us above zero Friday morning).
We’ll see how much of this ridge moves east this weekend. I have temps in the 20s for Aberdeen and Sioux Falls, 20s/30s in Pierre, and near 50° in Rapid City.
That ‘warmth’ will continue into Monday, and then watch for a cut-off low to our southwest. I added a 20 pop for snow in Sioux Falls next Tuesday. Better moisture fetch on the EURO than the GFS.
