Temps will slowly warm over the next couple of days, with highs returning to and above average for much of the week. Back door front will bring a round of light snow to Aberdeen on Wednesday; QPF is just a couple hundredths on GFS and EURO. Dropped Sioux Falls high on Wednesday from 40° to thirty-five.
Thursday and Friday will feature another slow warm-up, and then the timing of the COLD air will have to be watched for the weekend. As of now, I have Saturday being dry but colder with highs in the teens and twenties in the central/east to thirties in the west. As the cold air pushed into the upper plains on Sunday, I threw in a slight chance for light snow. QPF numbers are low, about a tenth of an inch on the EURO in Sioux Falls, but it should be bitterly cold. Any snow that we’re able to squeeze out will play with our temps early next week. I have Monday morning falling to the single digits and teens below zero, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we get colder. It all depends on the timing of the cold air and the snow pack.
