WBK: USD Outscores Fort Wayne
VERMILLION, SD -

South Dakota outscored Fort Wayne 45-17 in the second half en route to an 82-51 victory Thursday night inside the DakotaDome. The win ends a two-game skid for the Coyotes (8-10, 3-2 Summit), who remain in a tie for third place in the Summit League standings.

Nicole Seekamp had 18 points, six rebounds and seven assists to lead the Coyotes. Polly Harrington added 16 points on 7 of 9 shooting from the field. Tempestt Wilson and Margaret McCloud scored 15 and 14 points, respectively, and both had six rebounds.

Fort Wayne’s (6-12, 2-4 Summit League) Amanda Hyde led all scorers with 20 points. Stefanie Mauk added 11 points and seven rebounds for the Mastodons, who made 4 of 24 second-half shots.

USD outscored the Mastodons 40-12 in the paint and outrebounded them 43-22. South Dakota scored 22 second-chance points off 16 offensive boards.

South Dakota led by 15 points in the first half, but saw Fort Wayne cut the lead to 37-34 at the break. The Coyotes scored the first 10 points of the second half, and outscored Fort Wayne 31-7 during the final 12 minutes of the game.

Coyote point guard Alexis Yackley reached 10 assists for the third time this season and added six rebounds and two steals. South Dakota had 25 assists on 33 made field goals.

The Coyotes return to their home court Saturday for a 2 p.m. contest with Oakland.
