Warm Second Half Of May

May 30, 2014, 5:41 PM by Scot Mundt

Warm Second Half Of May

If it seems like we flipped a switch and went straight into the heat, we did.

Our average high in Sioux Falls from May first to May 15 was 62.2 degrees. From May 16 through May 31, using the forecast highs for the last days of the month, our average high is 77 and a half degrees. That's a difference of 15 degrees from the first half of the month to the second half.

Our morning lows have been much warmer also. In fact, since the morning freeze on May 16 when the thermometer fell to 23 degrees in Sioux Falls our average low has been just shy of 53 degrees.

While the sunshine will continue for Friday, the weekend will bring clouds and a good chance for rain. In fact, it looks like it could be a soggy start to June.
