SIOUX FALLS, SD -
Dozens braved the cool temperatures Saturday morning to lace up their walking shoes and participate in the first annual March Into The Light recovery walk at Falls Park.
The walk, put on by Face It Together Sioux Falls, supports recovery of those who have been affected by drugs or alcohol. It also provides hope for those battling the addictions.
"I think they started out on the east coast with different places on the east coast and then brought it to Sioux Falls, identifying a need for that support in the community for individuals who have substance abuse issues and trying to recover from that," walker Kristi Jacobsma said.
The walk is the first of its kind in this region. Other national events are held throughout the month of September in connection with National Recovery Month.
