Wagon Train Festivities Set To Begin This Week
PIERRE, SD -

The 125th statehood anniversary wagon train starts in Yankton this week. There will be a Yankton statehood celebration before the wagon train leaves on Thursday.

A 125th celebration will happen on the Yankton rodeo grounds in the afternoon and evening of Wednesday.

Tours will be provided at the museum in progress from 1 to 5 p.m. along with wagon rides from the rodeo grounds to the museum.

A chicken dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. with proceeds going to the Dakota Territorial Museum. Tickets are available in advance at the Museum in Westside Park and will be available on a first come first serve basis, the day of the event.

Following dinner, a dance will be held.

All activities are free, except for the meal. Those attending are encouraged to dress in western wear, contemporary or historic.
