SIOUX FALLS, SD -
A 23-year-old Wagner man is going to federal prison for more than 17 years after murdering his uncle and seriously injuring his cousin last fall.
Dancing Bull Fischer shot and killed his uncle, 47-year-old Tony Fischer Sr. in the early morning hours of November 27, 2012 after a night of drinking. Dancing Bull Fisher also seriously injured his cousin, Dominic Fischer, during the same shooting.
The daughters of Tony Fischer Sr. asked for a stiff sentence in court Monday morning.
"I only hope your punishment be harsh for the pain you have bestowed," Tony Fischer Sr.'s daughter Andrea Fischer said.
Dancing Bull Fischer pleaded guilty to the crime and his father and wife asked for mercy in the courtroom Monday saying Dancing Bull Fischer was working hard in the North Dakota oil fields to provide for his family. They said he has no criminal history and was not a violent person but that he unfortunately had this one incident where he drank and was not in his right mind.
Judge Karen Schreier gave Dancing Bull Fischer a 17-and-a-half year sentence, which is in the middle of the sentencing range under the plea agreement.
