Around 500 trees were planted across the city today by over 300 volunteers. The homes receiving the trees were ones that lost trees in the April ice storm. Each home also received a hand-made birdhouse.
Raymond Tieszen lost a tree in his front yard after the city deemed it wasn't safe, so he is happy that he was able to get help planting a new one.
“I'm glad the city came today with this wonderful program and planted a new for us. With back surgeries we're not able to dig so that was wonderful,” Tieszen said.
Tieszen was in Washington D.C. during the April Ice Storm and he was surprised to see how much damage there was when he came back home.
