Volunteers Needed For Sandbagging

June 17, 2014, 7:53 AM by Brandon Van Westen

Volunteers Needed For Sandbagging
ROCK VALLEY, IA -

The City of Rock Valley is asking for volunteers to assist in sandbagging operations. Volunteers can report to Trinity Christian Reformed Church, 2020 8th Street S.E., Rock Valley, IA.

City of Rock Valley officials report that no roads are open between Sioux Falls and Rock Valley.

Red Cross volunteers from Sioux Falls are responding with the Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicle this morning.

Volunteers need to bring shovels and gloves, and due to limited parking space, are encouraged to car pool. Rock Valley is only accessable by two routes:

  • From the south: Take County Blacktop K30 (Elmwood Avenue) northbound.

  • From the east: Take U.S. Highway 18 westbound.

  • Travel is not possible from the north and west.
