SIOUX FALLS, SD -
More than 1,300 Sioux Falls residents are spending time volunteering this Saturday as part of a community-wide day of service.
More than 50 service projects are taking place across the city for this year's Volunteer Sioux Falls. Three of those projects are at Bowden's Youth Center. Some groups made granola for hungry at-risk children at the center, while others cleaned up the landscaping.
“This is a chance for our community to really think about volunteerism and think about the need for volunteers in our community. It is also a chance for people who love to serve to get out and help and for people who have never volunteered before to give it a try,” Sara Carothers with The Help!line Center said.
If you missed your chance to volunteer, another opportunity is taking place Sunday for those 15 and older at the Sioux Empire Community Theater at the Orpheum. Volunteers will be cleaning up the shop from 12 to 6 p.m.
