A national network of precipitation observers is recruiting volunteers to track events across South Dakota.
Volunteers are expected to measure precipitation and report their findings to the group Community Collaborative Rain Hall and Snow Network.
The group's state coordinator is Dennis Todey with South Dakota State University.
Interested volunteers will receive training. Volunteers use a 4-inch diameter rain gauge and must take the readings every day between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m.
