SIOUX FALLS, SD -
Friends and family of 23-year-old James McInnes III are coming together to remember a life that was cut short.
McInnes was hit by a car Sunday night while he was riding his bike near the intersection of 10th and Fairfax near downtown Sioux Falls.
McInnes was taken off life support and died Tuesday.
The driver of the car, 55-year-old David Kinner, has been charged with vehicular battery and DUI for driving under the influence of prescription drugs. Kinner could face more charges now that McInnes has died.
McInnes was remembered in several ways Tuesday night.
More than 100 family and friends gather at a candle light vigil at 10th and Fairfax, the scene of the crash, and bike riders from across Sioux Falls gathered to ride to the crash site to pay tribute to McInnes.
McInnes's dad is thankful for the support.
"Above all he loved people. He's the most forgiving, caring, loving person I've ever met in my life and just to have him as my son is such an honor. He would have been tickled pink with this. He would have just loved it," McInnes's father Jim McInnes said.
McInnes leaves behind a two-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son.
