KELOLAND viewers are making a difference by donating to Feeding South Dakota during our station food drive.
Starting at 7 a.m., KELO employees have been standing by, ready to take your donation of food or money with everything we collect going to Feeding South Dakota.
The bins and boxes are filling up very quickly. People are donating anything from cereals to cake and cupcake mixes, soups and any other non-perishable items they can find. It added up to more than 2,400 pounds as of noon.
Another option people are going with is a monetary donation. We had a representative from Lloyd Companies stop out. Instead of everyone donating a can of food, they had their employees donate one dollar each, leading to a donation of over $100.
Money is just as good as a food donation because every dollar donated equals 6.5 pounds of food.
If you cannot get out to our studios, you can still help out. Go to our Hunger: Feeding the Need page, click Donate Now and you will be able to make a monetary donation right from home.
The KELOLAND Food Drive goes until 6 p.m. Friday.
