Victims Identified In Fatal SD Crash

CHAMBERLAIN, SD -
Authorities ay an Iowa man died and another man suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash on Interstate 90 near Chamberlain, in southeast South Dakota.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol says 54-year-old Leon Escutia Contreras of Estherville, Iowa died at the scene about 1 a.m. Friday.
Troopers say he was the passenger in car that left the interstate and rolled. The patrol says Contreras and the driver, 37-year-old Ramon Castillo of Estherville, Iowa, were thrown from the vehicle. Neither was wearing a seatbelt.
Chamberlain police were responding to a report of a possible drunk driver. Authorities say the accident occurred during a police pursuit.
Castillo was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital.

The Hand County Sheriff’s Office is searching for Leroy Nye, who was last seen at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 18.
